The initiative focused on promoting safe household energy use. The communities appreciated the awareness efforts, noting that they not only highlighted energy related hazards but also provided valuable energy saving tips.

We’re thrilled to share highlights from our recent community engagements in Gwanda (Matabeleland South) and Bulawayo Metropolitan at Luveve Hall. The emphasis was on consumer education: breaking down key provisions of the Consumer Protection Act, the availability of conciliation and arbitration through CCZ and offering practical guidance on accessing and benefiting from CCZ-led dispute resolution systems. The platform gave consumers real tools to resolve marketplace issues. We also proudly announced our official entry into Mat South’s Gwanda district—marking a new chapter in our journey.

CCZ held belated World Food Safety Day commemorations in Seke, Chitungwiza, the Chief Executive Officer Mrs Rose Mpofu emphasized the critical role that consumers play in ensuring their own food safety. In her remarks, the CEO reiterated that consumers have a responsibility to read food labels and make informed decisions about the products they consume. She highlighted that all food items should be properly labelled, providing clear information on ingredients, expiry dates, nutritional value, and any potential allergens.

The Consumer Council of Zimbabwe (CCZ) recently took part in a multi-stakeholder consumer community engagement event held in Muzarabani. The event whose theme focused on Fair Digital Financial Services, brought together various stakeholders committed to promoting consumer rights in the digital financial space.
The Muzarabani community expressed appreciation for the Government’s ongoing efforts to enhance financial and digital inclusion, recognizing the positive strides made in ensuring that rural and marginalized communities are not left behind in the digital transformation of financial services.
CCZ reaffirmed its role in advocating for consumer protection and education, particularly as more consumers access digital financial platforms. The Council continues to work closely with partners in ensuring that digital financial services are accessible, fair, and inclusive for all Zimbabweans.

The Consumer Council of Zimbabwe (CCZ) kicked off its 70th Anniversary celebrations at Ruyamuro Business Centre in Guruve, Mashonaland Central Province. The event marked the beginning of a series of activities planned throughout the year, aimed at depeening engagement with consumers across the country.

On May 20, 2025, the Consumer Council of Zimbabwe (CCZ), in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce’s Trade Measures Department, commemorated World Metrology Day at Chigovanyika Shopping Center in St Mary’s, Chitungwiza. This multi-stakeholder event brought together key institutions such as the Consumer Protection Commission (CPC), the Standards Association of Zimbabwe (SAZ), the Scientific and Industrial Research and Development Centre (SIRDC), and various private sector organizations.
The 2025 celebration theme is “Measurements for all times, for all people.” This theme underscores the critical role of accurate and reliable measurements in ensuring fair trade, consumer protection, and sustainable development.
