The Consumer Council of Zimbabwe has its origins deeply rooted in the great and noble cause of protecting and empowering consumers. The unpacking of the Consumer Protection Act Chapter [14:44] is now fundamental in empowering consumers and business organizations toward a fair market place.

Conciliation & Arbitration
CCZ is designated as a Consumer Protection Organization responsible for Conciliation and arbitration. CCZ assists consumers get redress whenever they are prejudiced in trade.
Education
Consumer education is one of the core competencies of the CCZ. The organization therefore goes out to educate consumers on their rights and responsibilities.
Complaints Handling
The CCZ handles a diversity of complaints between consumers and service providers and by so doing acts as an arbitrator between disputing parties.
Lobbying & Advocacy
As a watchdog, the CCZ represents consumers by influencing government to enact laws that protect them, thus creating a platform for fair trading practices.
RESEARCH
The organisation works together with various stakeholders to promote exchange of ideas, as well as to represent the consumer perspective, thereby upholding consumer interests. CCZ staff continue to serve on various boards and committees of other organisations that seek to protect the rights of the consumer and for purposes of lobbying and advocacy.
