CCZ Introduces New-Look Family Basket
1st June 2007

CCZ is introducing the second edition of the new look Family of Six Basket, aimed at giving detail on what has been actually happening in the market with regard to the cost of basic commodities at the source (manufacturer), middleman (wholesaler) till the end (retailer). The main reason for expanding the information offered by the Family Basket is to assist consumers to make a choice as to where they would want to buy their goods and to an extent it allows them to move towards group purchases whereby, a group can raise money to purchase goods in bulk, thus making the money in their pocket stretch. This enables consumers to have more information and allows them to shop around, which is a very important activity, given the current environment we are operating in. The availability of the information enables consumers to have a wider choice of where to buy and how much they can afford. It is our hope at CCZ that this new-look basket will assist consumers in getting value for their money.

The new presentation of the Family Basket will go a long way in clearly bringing out the true picture of the movement of prices along the distribution chain, i.e. from the manufacturer, to the wholesaler and finally the end retailer. This Basket will go a long way to clarify to consumers the point at which prices are being increased and by what margins. It will also assist the consumers in effectively lobbying for a fairdeal on the marketplace.

As CCZ we hope the new-look basket and the additional information will be of use to you and we welcome your views and comments to this development.
